Creative Prayer Ideas

Picture
It's that time of year when maybe as a catechist you might need some ideas to keep the creative flow going. Praying with your learners is one of the most important things you do during your sessions. If you find yourself repeating the same prayers over and over- week after week- maybe these ideas will help you re-think how you lead so that your learners have meaningful prayer experiences and you will find new approaches to engage all your learners.

Celebrating the Feast Day of St. Francis-Care for Creation
October 4th is the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. As one of our most popular saints, his feast strikes a chord with all of us in his love and high respect of all of life. Whether by an action or education, find ways to be more intentional about the state of our earth and help your learners become good stewards. Pope Francis wrote an encyclical called Laudato Si (Care for our Common Home). This teaching is guiding the church in ways to approach climate change that is affecting our planet. Check out some of these resources to assist with lesson planning.

This presentation was given to teens to educate them about the affects of climate change. All those who work with learners can gain good understanding and principles of teaching about this important subject.

It's Time to Talk About Lesson Planning
As we begin the new catechetical year it's a good time to review and renew some of our planning approaches. We know our objective for our learners is to help them meet and encounter Jesus while giving them a good experience of the principles of the Catholic faith. With catechist guide in hand and the help of our Catechetical Leader who provides support, we turn to Jesus in prayer and know that we will be provided with the creativity to engage learners and discernment in choosing activities when putting our lessons together. Here are some links with resources to assist with review and renew.
